@Thoughtologist I guess you could say I'm not against it. I'm just so used to pushing the Against button... But seriously, @LibertyLion, think of the crossover with union rights. They wouldn't be on board with intrusive screening of their members, or classifying them as risks.
@BigFish just raise the scrutiny in the teachers that will more than likely volunteer to do it. I would! "Kids, ignore protocol, and don't throw your pencils at this active shooter trying to murder us, I've got this."
@LibertyLion would you admit the possibility that in an inner city school, an over worked and stressed teacher - particularly a younger woman - might feel a threat where there isn't one and end up shooting some unarmed kid?
@Tom But does it create another one? Teachers aren't subject to the same level of scrutiny required to become an armed officer of the law. I don't think that armed teachers are necessarily bad, but I would want to see strict oversight on which teachers could be armed.
